Remove Sunscreen Slick

SAY GOODBYE TO SUNSCREEN SLICK

We all know the importance of sunscreen – especially in the summer. But, did you know that if the sunscreen is left on your skin it can cause breakouts, clogged pores and even cancer? It is important to remove your sunscreen after the day and let you skin breathe once you go to bed.

Within the past year, reports have been released on the safety of three organic UV filters, oxybenzone, homosalate and octocrylene.  Research found that the levels of two of them were not safe in the amounts at which they are currently used, and proposed a concentration limit of 2.2 percent for oxybenzone and 1.4 percent for homosalate. U.S. sunscreen manufacturers are legally allowed to use these two chemicals at concentrations up to 6 and 15 percent, respectively, and hundreds of sunscreens manufactured in the U.S. use them at concentrations that far exceed recommendations.

The ingredients oxybenzone, octinoxate, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate and avobenzone are all systemically absorbed into the body after one use, according to studies published by the FDA, which also found that they could be detected on the skin and in the blood weeks after no longer being used. Previous studies detected many sunscreen ingredients in breast milk and urine samples. In addition, it’s possible for sunscreen users to inhale ingredients in sunscreen sprays and ingest some of the ingredients they apply to their lips, so the ingredients must not be harmful to the lungs or internal organs.

Here at B. Witching, we decided to share with you our favorite way to remove sunscreen from your skin and keep it healthy.

Sugar Scrub + Warm Water = Sunscreen Free Skin Step

1: Rinse. After stepping in the warm shower, rinse of your skin. Do so without any cleanser. This step removes any buildup prior to cleansing. The warm water opens up your pores, so the sunscreen and dirt can properly be washed away.

Step 2: Exfoliate. Using the warm water, grab your favorite B. Witching Sugar Scrub, gently exfoliate your skin to remove the sunscreen and dirt of the day. The sugar grains will remove dirt or sunscreen, as well as dead skin and other grime, leaving behind soft, clean skin.

Step 3: Rinse. After exfoliating, rinse your skin well with warm water. Allow all the sugar  &  grime to flow down the drain. If you can stand it, stand under cold water for about 30 seconds. By using cold water, it closes up your pores again, leaving them clean and blocked from dirt.

Step 4: Dry & Moisturize. Gently dry your skin, avoid rubbing harshly if you can. Lastly, moisturize your skin using a light and fresh B. Witching lotion. Moisturizing your skin right after you exfoliate is key to keeping your skin supple and hydrated. We recommend pairing your fragrances, so you smell fresh & clean through every step.
